Chandelier Refurbishment

With the passing of the Christmas season you may be looking at your chandelier and thinking it is looking a little tired and sorry for it’s self.  Refurbishing your chandelier does not need to be expensive as it is not a full restoration, just a little TLC.

If you didn’t get a chance to clean your chandelier in the lead up to the festive season this can instantly transform the chandelier.  It also gives you a chance to check over the chandelier to make sure that all the crystals are in place and undamaged; you will also be able to see any that need re-pinning.

Replacing the odd crystal does not need to be expensive, we do not have a minimum order value on our website and our chandelier pins are available in small cost effective packs as well as larger quantities for a full chandelier restoration.  Dependant on the chandelier crystals and buttons that you are looking for you will find in both our antique  and modern chandelier parts that some are available in pack sizes as well as singles.

Whilst cleaning your chandelier you can check to see if any of the candle tubes need replacing or you may wish to change the style and colour of your candle tubes to revitalise the look of your chandelier – again you do not need to place a minimum order our candle tubes are available in singles as well.

Of course when cleaning your chandelier check your bulbs are all working correctly.

REMEMBER when cleaning your chandelier ensure the electrical supply is switched off, do not expose the electrics to liquids and move yourself and your ladder around the chandelier do not turn the chandelier to you – you may unscrew the fixings.

Chandelier Bobeche Replacement – FAQ’s

As one of the largest UK stockist’s of vintage and antique chandelier replacement parts we obviously get a lot of calls asking for guidance when choosing a replacement chandelier part.  This article covers the most frequently asked questions when choosing replacment bobeche.

Q.  Are the bobeche on your website reproduction or genuine antique parts
A.  We specialise in antique chandelier parts but we do sell new chandelier parts – please do not worry about ordering a new part in error these are shown in a totatally separate area of the website.

Q. What dimensions do I need to know before I start searching for a replacement bobeche?
A.  It is important to know the size of the centre hole to ensure that the replacement bobeche will fit over your chandelier arm and sit correctly.  You also need to know the overall dimension of the bobeche – it may not be too much of an issue if it differs by a few millimetres but you do not want a replacement that is significantally smaller or larger.

Q. I have found a bobeche on your website but it has less pin-holes than mine – can you drill more pin holes for me?
A.  This will depend on the design and age of the replacement bobeche, please email us, info@kingschandeliers.co.uk, quoting the item product reference detailing the number of pin holes you need and we will be able to advise if this is one we can modify for you.  Please note that there is a charge for modifications and are subject to terms and conditions

Q.  The centre hole on my bobeche is larger/smaller than the one on your website – can this be modified?
A.  In some instances this can,  please email us, info@kingschandeliers.co.uk, quoting the item product reference detailing the number of pin holes you need and we will be able to advise if this is one we can modify for you.  Please note that there is a charge for modifications and are subject to terms and conditions.

Q. Do you stock multiples of bobeche designs or just singles?
A. Where possible we will try to restore chandeliers rather than sell off the parts so usually it is limited to small numbers which will show on our website however the listings are updated regularly so if you find one that is suitable but it is showing out of stock we will not normally be able to give a restock date but would suggest keeping an eye on our site.

Q. Are chandelier bobeche known by any other names?
A. There are numerous names used within the industry for bobeche, these include grease pan, wax catcher, drip trays.Q. Are your replacement chandelier parts available on next day delivery?

Q. Is next day delivery available on chandelier replacement parts?
A. Currently our antique stock is excluded from next day delivery, if you need an item by a certain date please contact us between 10 am to 3pm Monday to Friday, 01026332938

If you have any questions I may have missed please feel free to contact me info@kingschandeliers.co.uk where we will be happy to respond.

Choosing your replacement bobeche/drip trays

IMG-20141220-00210

For whatever reason you have decided to replace one or more of your bobeche/drip trays but other than matching the pattern of existing bobeche on your chandelier or the style you have decided on what do you need to know before purchasing?

With the right information ready choosing should not be too difficult or complex so here are a few tips to help you in your choice:-

  1. One of the most important dimensions is the centre hole – too small and it may not fit on your chandelier arm, too large and  it may slip over.  Don’t worry if you find the ideal one and the centre hole does not match as sometimes we may be able to extend the centre hole or may have a filler insert.
  2. How large is your existing bobeche?  Measure across at the widest point to get the dimension in millimetres
  3. How deep is your bobeche? Not quite as easy a measurement to take but measure from the highest point to the lowest – if you find a suitable match you can always email us our part number and ask us to confirm how we measured to ensure you are measuring in the same way.
  4. How many pin holes do you want your replacement to have – again on occasion we can drill pin holes but this is dependant on the design of the bobeche

Now all you need is a nice cup of tea and the time to check out our website http://www.kingschandeliers.co.uk/chandelier-parts-and-accessories/3

Chandelier Mis-haps!

In the months leading up to Christmas at King’s Chandelier Services Ltd we see an increase in the sale of antique and vintage crystal chandelier spares as clients restore and repair their chandeliers in readiness of the festive season – these slightly higher than usual sales continue into January following Christmas and New Year Party Mis-haps.

We will always do what we can to assist with the supply of authentic replacement vintage parts but would like to offer a few tips to try to minimise the upset of such mishaps.

Damage is generally caused by very similar accidents and incidents with the majority of people thinking that it could “only happen to them” in such a way.

A few simple things to remember over the festivities are:-

1. if your child received a football or the such as a present remind them the chandelier does not make a good
goalie!
2. if new golf clubs were the gift again the golf swing needs to be practised out of reach of the chandelier!
3. Champagne to celebrate the incoming year – point the bottle away the from chandelier – those corks can fly!
4. Changing the light bulbs on the chandelier – remember support the chandelier arm and do not apply too much pressure – this
is one of the main causes of broken chandelier arms
5. Taking the chandelier down to protect it from damage over the festivities? Make sure it is properly supported and packed
away – do not place the chandelier on its arms the weight could be too much for them and cause cracks or complete breakages
6. Remember when carrying ladders or large items through the house to keep an eye out for the chandeliers and to tell
contractors you have chandeliers when they come to do work in your property

Everyone at King’s Chandelier Services Ltd would like to wish you a Very Happy and Prosperous New year
